Travelling Pin Ups! Roadtrip to Braidwood
January 5, 2013 § 1 Comment
As y’all know, we love anything that has the tag retro, vintage, 50’s or pin up to it and with a couple of days to spare until the studio re-opens for 2013, we decided to take a roadtrip.
So off we went and took a day trip to Braidwood last week on the pretence to visiting HOOLAHOOP CLOTHING to purchase some pieces for the studio. What we were met with when we drove into the main street was not only specialty shop after speciality shop, but many venues for dining. By all means, this little town is not so little when it comes to impressing someone of big city expectations!
We spent the good part of 4hrs in Braidwood strolling the main street, visiting each shop and chatting to people. The food was great, the conversation was interesting and the locals were hospitable. Can’t do that on a computer can you?
This then got us thinking back to the 1950s (in keeping with our Pin Up Shots) and how the world was on a smaller scale and people used to look out for each other a lot more, particularly in a small country town like Braidwood.
We love shooting pin ups. We love the era, the clothes, the hair. Are we subconsciously also loving the lifestyle as well? We will get back to you on those thoughts in the next couple of weeks.
Go and visit Braidwood for a day trip. You will not be disappointed!
This is one of the HEARTBREAKER DRESSES we purchased from HOOLAHOOP CLOTHING. We love it!

Miss Teneal
December 29, 2012 § Leave a Comment
Miss Teneal contacted us earlier this year looking to do a Pin Up Shoot so she could give her husband photos of herself whilst he was on deployment with the Navy soon after. We get quite a lot of wives/partners of the Australian Services having Pin Up Shoots with us for their husbands/partners. Without fail, there is always a Navy or Army theme to their shoots!
Miss Teneal, like a lot of our lovely ladies was a bit nervous when she first contacted us. She did not know what to expect, but that was quickly forgotten when we got her into the studio for a pre-session consultation. We showed her what outfits we had and made a couple of suggestions to her. We also reassured her that we did not expect her to be a supermodel, nor expect her to know how to pose herself – that is all part of the fun!
And like every gal who walks into our studio for a Pin Up Session, as soon as she was transformed into a pin up gal, she automatically went into character!
Curve Confidence (as featured in Pin Up Passion)

(The following article was recently featured in Pin Up Passion – www.pinuppassion.com ):
Curve Confidence…it’s what you make it.
Pin Up Shots recently received a very interesting question from a gal enquiring online for our pin up photo session. She asked, “I see that many of your portfolio photos are shots of thin girls. Do you cater for plus sizes?”
A very good question, which we had taken for granted as we did cater for plus sizes but we didn’t think we had to make a point of specifying it.
Pin Up photography isn’t about what size you are, rather how you carry yourself and we haven’t met one girl yet who hasn’t known how to pull off Pin Up in her photo shoot! It’s almost as if every girl falls into a tantalising and mysterious Pin Up trance the minute those victory rolls are set on her head and the cat eyes drawn onto her face and as she gets transformed into a 1950’s beauty, all inhibitions are thrown out the studio door.
Pin Up Shots has recently photographed some new mums and curvy gals. They all made a point of mentioning their stretch marks and curves when they first contacted us but we weren’t worried at all about that. We explained that we have varied sized clothes, even sexy lingerie in larger sizes and we would either cover or retouch the stretch marks.
Suffice to say, these girls had such fun during their session in the studio with us, being pampered and playing dress ups that they forgot all about their size and stretch marks!
Retouching was carried out on their images where needed and the results where hot out of the 1950’s!
So ladies, it’s all about communicating your concerns with us in the first place and having confidence in your photographer.
At Pin Up Shots, we hold a pre-session consultation either in person or over the phone to plan your photo session. This allows your input as we get to know what look you would like to achieve and as some girls do, talk about your problem areas.
It is important to us that you look good but that you also feel comfortable. The beauty of pin up is that what’s important is to be yourself!
Until later Dolls,
Lynda & Francesca

We have a LOT of sessions we need to blog about which we plan on doing over the Christmas and New Year.
Meet Miss Chantelle. Miss Chantelle had her session with us not only to feel good about herself, but to have some pin up photos of herself done as a present for her husband who is in the services. We have a lot of gals come into the studio to have photos done as a surprise for their husbands.
We are LOVIN’ the use of the Australian Flag in this image! Very patriotic and very fitting for the upcoming Australia Day Celebrations!

Rock’n at Rosie’s
December 18, 2012 § 3 Comments
Back in August, we were introduced to Shannon and Lisa who own White Chrome Caddies – http://www.whitechromecaddies.com.au and Rosie’s Diner which is located at Camden. We spent the afternoon photographing the wonderful Miss Modified who has since been nominated as a finalist for Miss Pin Up Australia 2013.
We just LOVE LOVE LOVE shooting at Rosie’s Diner! There are so many things to play with and so many photo opportunities! (not to mention, Shannon and Lisa made us feel very welcome.) It is such a great location to shoot at, we decided to take the show on the road and packed up our studio for a weekend of location Pin Ups at Rosie’s Diner in October (more on that later).
Now, as you know, we are by no means experts in video (we are photographers, not videographers – give us a stills camera and we can work wonders, but a video camera is still a foreign concept to us), but we wanted to document our day. Let us know what you think!
